A stunning cross-over show with Groningen’s Circus Santelli for young people. The show takes place in the Mennonite Church, where Vincent Hensen at the organ supports the acting with his inventive and stirring music.
The organist puts his miniature stetson on, sweeps the tails of his dress suit across the organ bench of his hammondorgan, and off he goes. Under his first few chords the acrobats come rolling in, turning cartwheels!
This may sound to you like stories from a bygone age, your grandparents’ grandparents’ world perhaps. But on Saturday, October 20th, this story will be re-enacted, when youth circus Santelli – Italian name of course, since Italy is this year’s festival theme – is giving a show in the Doopsgezinde (Mennonite) Church. Acrobats, jugglers, tight-rope walkers, circus artists on balls and mono-cycles: they will all be there and do spectacular things accompanied by, yes, by an organ of all instruments! The musician Vincent Hensen is a sort of centre-piece, producing a variety of musical pranks and improvisations, in sync with the acrobats.
After the show, the artists will invite the young spectators for a workshop: they are welcome to have a look at all the attributes and try them out. Vincent Hensen will talk about and illustrate all the wonderful intricacies of the Marcussen organ.
